What an amazing writing and storytelling week we had in school, the week of 24th October. Sue Allonby, local professional storyteller, spent two days with us telling a range of tales and encouraging us to plan and write our own stories. She took the infants on a story walk and we sang and learnt a number of stories by heart. We all especially enjoyed the Magic syrup tin story as we got to join in with the rhyme. The juniors puzzled out some rather tricky stories full of riddles that really got Year 5 and 6 thinking!
The week ended with some amazing performances of stories and poems learnt by heart. Our parents came to enjoy the recitations too. Reception shared their 'You choose' story asking us lots of questions. Squirrel class shared their talk for writing version of 'Little Red Riding Hood' and we went all Shakespearian with Fox class as they shared the weird sister scene from Macbeth with us. Finally, we went on a fabulous journey with Badger class as they took us on the 'Night Mail' sharing the wonderful poem by W H Auden. Well done to all the classes involved and we hope that they all continue to use their writer's notebooks to jot down their stories/poems/ideas to inspire their own creative writing.
