Team: Austin, Mohammad Ayaan, Leo, Zayd, Haris, Emily, Emma, Paloma, Anna, Georgia
What a fantastic afternoon! It was great to be back at the poolside after so long, competing against 9 other schools from the Ribble Valley. The Balderstone team swam with such determination and strength! Every member dug deep and swam to the very best of their ability... they were fantastic ambassadors for Balderstone and made us very proud. On top of this, we came home with a great collection of medals:
GOLD x 2: for Austin in both the 3 x 25m medley and 25m freestyle
SILVER: for Emily in 25m breast stroke
SILVER for girls 4 x 25m freestyle relay
BRONZE for boys 4 x 25m freestyle relay
BRONZE for boys 3 x 25m medley
Also , some narrow misses for Paloma, who finished in 4th place by 0.19 seconds in 25m Backstroke and the girls 3 x 25m medley who also finished in 4th place... by 0.062 seconds!
The overall results reflected our best ever year of swimming:
The Boys team finished in 2nd Place overall
The Girls team finished in 4th place overall
The whole team finished in 3rd place overall
Well done Everyone...a very enjoyable afternoon, with outstanding sporting values on show all afternoon and impeccable behaviour!
Thank you to Clitheroe Dolphins & HRVSSP for running the event and also to Louise Dixon for help with transporting the children to the event.

A full morning of physical fun playing against lots of other schools. This event focussed on the key sporting values and relied on the children's honesty whilst playing. This is certainly where we shone, with our children taking themselves off the court when they had been hit. There was some real passion and determination on show and the teams made Mrs Heyworth, Mrs Hussain and Mr Simpson really proud - well done everyone!
Y3/4 Gymnastics Competition
at St Augustine's RC High School
Monday7th February 3:30 - 4:30
Team: Safaa, Laura, Liyaana, William
After some early morning lessons at school, the team learnt to use the box and perform a floor routine. This is the first time the children had competed in such a competition and they performed with control and confidence. There were many teams competing over the course of the evening, and we finished the event in a very respectable 8th Position.
A special well done to Safaa for her 10/10 score on the vault; Laura for 9.8/10 on the floor; William 9/10 on the vault and Liyaana who scored 9.2 on the floor. Amazing achievements - Well done Children.
Thanks to Mrs Riddell who helped to train and transport the children
Y1/2 Dance Festival
at St Augustine's RC High School
Monday 24th January 4 -5:30pm
Team: Aliza, Eleanor, Poppy S, Charles, Yahya, Zahraa, Inaaya, Poppy B
Our funky movers joined the Ribble Valley dance festival to learn an Aladdin themed dance routine and then to have some groovy fun with lots of different dance and rhythm props! It was hard to work out who was having more fun - Mrs Gow & Mrs Burton or the children! It was great to see both staff and children groovin' and movin' altogether. Great fun all round!
Thanks to Mrs Gow and Mrs Burton for taking the children.
Physical Activity Festival
at Roefield Leisure Centre
Wednesday 19th January 1 - 3pm
Team: Aushah, Emaan, Amaya, Khadijah, Alyssia, Malin, Alayna, Hannah
What a fabulous opportunity for our girls to try out a range of different physical activities to improve our mental and physical health. Upon our arrival, the team were excited to learn that they would be participating in archery, climbing, spinning and... being able to use the gym. The children embraced each activity with enthusiasm and there were smiles in abundance throughout the afternoon. Thanks to Mrs Gow for taking the children to this event.
