Reading is at the heart of our curriculum.  Our topics are underpinned by our book spine, ensuring all classes read quality texts.  

In Reception and Year 1, children are given phonetically decodable books which match their phonics knowledge.  These are sent home weekly, so children can practise blending the sounds they have been taught.  In Year 2, children take home book packs which contained themed books matched to their reading level.  

As children move into KS2, they choose books based on their reading level.  Children complete quizzes regularly to assess their understanding of the book they have read.  

All children enjoy their weekly visit to the library to choose a library book they can take home to read for pleasure.  We have lots to choose from!
