Spring Term 2026

Y6 Glow Dodgeball at Oakhill

Tuesday 20th January

Team: Shifa, Aleena, Aliza, Safaa B, Mu'aaz and Abdullah

On Tuesday 20th January, some of our Year 6 children participated in the Glow Dodgeball competition. Here is Aliza's report:

Me (Aliza), Safaa, Shifa, Aleena, Abdullah and Mu'aaz represented Balderstone in a Glow Dodgeball competition at Oakhill. We were kindly transported to and from the event by Shifa's dad. As we stepped into Oakhill school, we were all very nervous but at the same time excited. All of us walked onto the pitch because we were playing first match and we all played really well. We drew our first game. All of us were showing our sporting values and we gave it our very best.

We won two games, lost two games and because of our honesty, we were given an extra match. The dodgeball tournament was coming to an end and it was time for the medals. We were all so nervous and we couldn't believe it when the instructor called our name - BALDERSTONE ST LEONARD'S. We had won and received our medals with pride!

Mrs Heyworth was so proud of the team who showed their sporting values in abundance. The team were marked and scored by each opposing team based on honesty and respect and the scores were totalled up at the end. Well done children you deserve your GOLD medals!

Thank you to Mr Suleman who transported the children to and from the event, as without him, we would have been unable to participate.

Y5/6 Sportshall Athletics at Oakhill

Friday 6th February

Team: Zak, Zayn, Abdullah, Danyal, Yahya T, Umar, Inaaya, Zahraa, Ameerah, Amelia, Shifa, Juwairiyah

Well done to the children in Year 5 and 6 who competed in the Sportshall Athletics competition at Oakhill on Friday morning. The Boys performed well finishing first in the vertical jump; 2nd in both the chest push and in the obstacle relay and 3rd in both the standing long jump and the triple jump. The girls team also finished 3rd in one of their relay races. Overall, we finished a respectable 4th, which was a great achievement as we were competing against some much larger schools. Children were, once again, good ambassadors for our school and showed their sporting values well.
