Lancashire School Games

Cultural Competitions

2022: Inspired by the Commonwealth "Queen's Baton" relay, Lancashre school games challenged chidren  to write a decree to be read at the opening of he school games in July. We had many brilliant pieces to choose from and it was hard to select one to send to HRVSSP. After lots of disussions, the teachers selected Emily's as our entry for Y6. We are now eagerly awaiting the results.

2021: After the delay of the 2020 olympics, the olympic games finally arrived in Tokyo. We looked at the mascot, and the symbolism behind its design.  Lancashire school games launced a "design a mascot" competition and we sent of a collection of entries. We were delighted to hear the news that Raees' design: "Kai the Fiery Phoeix" was chosen as the HRVSSP mascot. Well done Raees!

2020: Year 6 children were once again invited to write a pledge for the Lancashire youth Games. As last year, our brief was to create a piece of written work in the form of a pledge, poem or oath which is inspired by sport, in particular the Olympic and Schools Games and their values.

This year, we were thrilled to hear that Amaani's work was chosen by HRVSSP as the Ribble Valley entry. Unfortunately due to COVID 19, the youth games could not go ahead in its usual format and so Amaani was asked to record her pledge for social media. Her pledge can be found below.

CONGRATULATIONS AMAANI

2019:Year 6 were invited to participate in  a competition between local schools. Our brief was to create a piece of written work in the form of a pledge, poem or oath which is inspired by sport, in particular the Olympic and Schools Games and their values.

Years 5 and 6 all participated, but Imaan from Year 5 produced a brilliant poem and this was sent into the schools partnership as Balderstone's entry. We were then thrilled to be informed that her entry had been selected for the Ribble Valley and was being entered into the borough competition for the Youth Games. Imaan was invited as a VIP guest to the event and treated to lunch, a tour and she was given a published version of her poem. She also received a trophy for her work.

  CONGRATULATIONS IMAAN.
