Balderstone St Leonard's Church

We are very proud of our links with Balderstone St. Leonard's Church and often participate in events with the church community.

Every week in school we have our amazing church and community family members in to help us live, love and learn.

Open the Book

We now have our own team of trained 'Open the Book' storytellers who are ready, willing and able to share the wonder of God's Big Story with our children in church and school.  Many thanks to the members of our church who hosted and attended the training and joined in fellowship with some other local churches from Coppull and Brinscall. We are looking forward to you leading our worship and helping us dive deeper in God's Big Story.

All age worship - Sharing our mission in church and school!

February's all-age worship was led by some of our children and our Salt and Light group.  The theme was on God's Big Story and celebrating the anniversary of Open the Book.  We explored our favourite books and our favourite Bible stories and then we told the story of Josiah.  We taught the congregation our retelling of God's Big Story in 43 words!  Watch the video for some inspiration or see the church newsletter.

On the 28th February 2019 the school are looking forward to hosting GAP puppets (God’s amazing puppets) for a praise party and puppet training session from 3.10 – 6pm.

The school’s Salt and Light group and members of our Sunday school are going to work together to learn puppet ministry, so we can lead an action packed and fun-filled All-age worship on Sunday 3rdMarch in church! The GAP puppet team tour around the North West training church teams in puppet ministry and they use this to support their mission of building an orphanage in Uganda called ‘Hope House.’ The school are hoping to support the project in raising money for the primary school next door to the orphanage called Kambuga primary school. There are many similarities between our two schools, we are rural, mixed age, love learning and love God but that is where the similarities end. Unfortunately, some of the children from the school have to walk over 10 miles a day to get to and from school! We are hoping to support the primary school in building a dormitory, so that the children who have to walk the furthest distance to school can stay over at school.

As part of the school’s mission of outreach and supporting charities, both locally and overseas, we are hoping to raise money over the coming school year to help support the building of the boarding part of the school.

The other school news, the school now runs an enrichment session called IDEAS on a Friday afternoon, from 1.30pm – 2.30pm every Friday afternoon. In this session the children get to choose an enrichment activity that they would like to learn such as: cooking, engineering, model making, arts and craft, sports or even taking part in the Bishop’s Bible challenge for this year. We would love to invite you, our talented and skilled church members to be involved in these sessions. If you have a secret (or not so secret) talent such as patchwork, woodwork, watercolour painting, flower arranging etc then please do get in touch as our staff team would love to work alongside you to spend some quality time passing on these skills to our youngsters. You are very welcome to join us for these sessions (please contact school for more information).

Exciting times ahead!
