Balderstone retains GOLD and achieves Schools Games Mark Recognition

The Youth Sport Trust and HRVSSP one again awarded Balderstone with above certificate as we have "shown dedication and commitment to PE, School Sport, Physical Activity and the School Games over the last academic year... this is in absence of the full mark running this year, in recognition of your hard work and dedication."


Whole School Achievements/Impact


  • We achieved the Sportsmark award (above) for our sports provision.
  • We were successful in many of the virtual competitions: a GOLD medal in Y3/4 Girls football competition; GOLD in Y5/6 multisports competition; SILVER in Y1/2 Fundamentals competition and  SILVER  in the orienteering competition.
  • One Y6 child won the HRVSSP cultural "Design a Masot" competition, focusing on sporting values.
  • 100% of our Y6 leavers were given the opportunity to represent school throughout their time in KS2. 
  • 100% of our KS1 and KS2 pupils represented school over the academic year in virtual competitions.
  • We participated in 5 Interschool competitions (In Houses) and 5 Intra school competitions ( Football, orienteering, athletics, Fundamentals and Multiskills)
  • All our year groups returned to their pre-COVID levels of curriculum PE from September and this was maintained during school opening times(2 hours per week) .
  • We provided extra curricular activities in football, athletics, multiskills, fundamentals and cricket this year.

In July 2021, I00% of our Y6 pupils will Balderstone School having met the National Curriculum minimum requirements: being able to swim the minimum distance of 25m.

NB The figures given are from assessments taken in Year 4. We believe these to be an accurate representation of their ability at the time. Due to Covid, we were unable to confirm through a further assessment.
