Our Tag Rugby Team represent The Ribble Valley at the Lancashire Youth Games

Our Tag Rugby Team represent The Ribble Valley at the Lancashire Youth Games 1

Lancashire Youth Games: Tag Rugby. Tuesday 5th July

Team: Tom (C), Amie, Mia, Kaitlin, Sam F, Sam K, Raees, Leo, William, Aariz, Kate.

Once more, the team made Balderstone school proud when they represented Ribble Valley in  tag rugby. They all displayed excellent sportsmanship, teamwork and behaviour. It was a busy, exciting and long day in Blackpool.

After the opening ceremony, we played 3 group matches. The first against Wyre was a close game. Tries were scored by Kaitlin, Amie, Tom and Sam F and resulted in a 7-7 draw. Our next game  against Burnley also resulted in a 4-4 draw with tries from Tom and Amie. The final group game against Heysham was just as exciting and tries were scored by Mia, Leo, Aariz and Tom. The final score 7-6 to us.

Interestingly, 3 of the 4 teams in the group all had the same results of 2 draws and a win and so it came down to tries. This left us second in our group.

In the afternoon, we then had a close game against Chorley, where we had 2 disallowed tries, resulting in a 4-5 loss. Tries in this game were from Tom, Amie and Mia. Our final game was against Blackburn with Darwen and we ended the day successfully with a 6-4 win. Tries from Kate, Tom and Kaitlin.

Although we left without medals, we all had a fantastic day and enjoyed the opportunity to play against other Lancashire squads.

Thanks to Mr & Mrs Foster for their coaching tips, help and support; Ms James, Mrs Zarac , Mrs Feeney, Mrs Cast and Mrs Gregson for travelling over to support and cheer on the team.
