Autumn Term 2017

Tuesday 19th December

Inter House Y5/6 Tag Rugby competition

Our first Y5/6 inter house sports competition of the year. The children played with enthusism and detemination and showed that they have learned some excellent skills this term.

The end result was a very close run between St David's and St Andrew's, with St Andrew's scoring the winning try just before the final whistle.

A special mention and thanks to our sport's ambassador and rugby player, Sam, for organising and refereeing some of the matches. It must have been very hard not being able to get stuck in playing. Your refereeing skills improved too though Sam - well done!

Our 2nd visit to Westholme for the 'Plate' play-offs. The team won one and drew one against Broughton and Westholme B. This put us int the semi-finals which we unfortunately lost on penalties. However, to see the boys making so much progress on each outing is an absolute pleasure.

Once more, thanks goes to our team manager,Mr Holroyd and the parents for their transport and support.

Friday 17th November

Team: Aariz, Adam, Joseph, Sam, Harry, Rayyan, James R, Ali and Max

This is the first time that we have entered this tournament and the boy made us proud. They showed that they had learned a lot about teamwork from their last outing and worked better together. The team won one and lost 2 matches and finished 3rd in their group. They will play again in the 'Plate' play offs next week.

Thanks to Mr Holroyd and all the parents who transported  and stayed to support the boys. We are looking forward to the next round.

Friday 13th October 2017

Team: Aariz, Adam, Joseph, Sam, Harry, Rayyan, James R, George and Max.

This was our first time playing in the HRVSSP football league and our first time playing as a team. We started off with  few losses, but as the evening progressed, we began to pull together as a team and won against Osbaldeston and Brookside.  The evening was a steep learning curve and enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Mr Holroyd and all the parents who transported  and stayed to support the boys. We are looking forward to the next round in the spring term.

Change for life Champions Training

at Fearns Sports college, Bacup

Thursday 12th October 2017

Joseph and Lucy were joined by Mrs Pinnington to receive their training. The children were inspired by ex England hockey player, Charlotte Hartley. Charlotte shared her experiences of life, training, struggles and success. The chilren found her " very inspirational".

Lucy and Joseph learned games that they can play wit younger children. After a lot of fun and running around, they learned about healthy and active lifestyles. They had to choose ways to make an unhealthy person become healthy. They chose sugar swaps in the end and had to make a poster about it . What a brilliant morning!

Sports Ambassador's Training

at Accington Academy

Tuesday 10th October 217

Sam and Zaynab received their training and met world champion female inline skater Jenna Downing. Our ambassadors found Jenna really inspiring. After being refused the opportunity to skate at her local park because she was a girl, she persisted and was eventually allowed to use the facilities. She won many competitions and championships. However, in the middle of a skating routine, her legs went numb and she fell from ten feet. She was diagnosed with MS and took a month to recover from her fall. She was inspirational!

We look forward to welcoming Jenna into school in the summer term to deliver some motivational talks and activities.
